Shane was born in East Anglia, the oldest of six children, he grew up with stories around the family hearth. He played and worked with people from the ‘settled’ Gypsy and Traveller diaspora. Leaving school at 15 years of age without a single qualification, Shane never imagined that he would end up telling traditional oral stories in; Canada, Holland, Morocco, Sweden, Ireland and all around the UK. Shane has worked with the transformative power of stories for more than 30 years, training at the fireside and the International School of Storytelling. Shane is much sort after and was a ‘special guest’, at the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, to celebrate the life and work of Scottish Traveller Duncan Williamson (RIP), a celebrated storyteller, singer and tradition bearer. Shane spends many weeks a year, living and working in the woods as a bushcraft teacher, eco-therapist and storyteller, many of his traditional stories, reflect his experiences in nature.
